After launching large-format stores in Hyderabad and Mumbai, Swedish furniture maker Ikea is planning to expand in tier-II cities as a part of its second phase expansion. It is now developing a large-format store in Bengaluru and later set up one in Delhi as a part of its first phase expansion plans, said Ikea India Chief Executive Officer Peter Betzel.
The company wants to opt for a multi-channel approach, using large-format stores, small stores and the online platform, Betzel told reporters on the sidelines of the Bloomberg Equality Summit in Mumbai recently.
The small format stores will be completely owned by Ikea and will have the same look and feel like any other Ikea store, according to a report. It is just that the size of the store, the range on display, and the presentation that will be different, Betzel was quoted as saying.
