US fabrics retailer Joann has acquired digital printing innovator WeaveUp as it looks to scale the services of its long-time partner. The companies have worked together for roughly five years, with Joann first investing in the technology provider in 2019. Now, Joann has agreed to purchase the business outright, citing opportunities to expand capabilities in the digital textile printing space.

“We look forward to offering products that are printed on-demand with the best technologies available,” commented Wade Miquelon, Joann’s President and CEO. “We believe that WeaveUp’s powerful platform services will bring Joann’s fabric offerings into a new realm and we are proud to announce this investment.”

WeaveUp boasts a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform through which customers can leverage various modules created to streamline the supply chain. Its arsenal enables design upload, design management, product customisation and print room automation, amongst other things. “It’s been a great partnership from the start,” said Flint Davis, President of WeaveUp.

“The past five years have shown me that the Joann team has the vision, the commitment, and the resources to propel digitally printed textiles forward into the mainstream. This acquisition allows us to accelerate the speed of our platform development and to continue to drive innovation in the on-demand product space.”
