Calico has introduced a new fabric line by Stacy Garcia Home for Crypton Home called Pattern Play. The new collection is the retailer’s first offering of soil- and stain-resistant prints. It presents a variety of looks including florals, geometrics, paisleys, an ethnic-inspired medallion and a brushwork plaid. The prints have a textural look, achieved through a painterly watercolor effect and an artisanal block-printed look. The different base cloths give these fabrics a soft, brushed hand or a linen-like texture, according to a Calico statement.
Based in New York, Garcia provides forecasts of colour and design trends. Her work has been featured in periodicals such as Traditional Home, Interior Design, Boutique Design, New York Spaces, Luxe, Rue Daily and Architectural Digest. Calico is celebrating its 70th anniversary in business this year. Its first Calico Corners store opened in 1948 in Bedford Village, NY. Currently, it has more than 70 stores plus an e-commerce site.
