Upscale area rug house Obeetee and retail partner ABC Carpet & Home recently collaborated to celebrate “India’s Modern Makers and Muses.”As part of the May 22 event, which was held at ABC’s 888 Broadway store in Manhattan, Obeetee presented the second edition of its “Proud to be Indian” collection by Abraham & Thakore, the fashion, accessories and home textiles firm founded by its namesakes, David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore.
The upscale program spans 18 styles of hand-crafted area rugs, available exclusively at ABC. Among the highlights is the Siyaahii Beige hand-knotted design from the line’s Calligraphy collection, “inspired by the chance discovery of handwritten letters, makes a perfect vignette,” Obeetee noted.
“The Abrabram & Thakore collection for Obeetee celebrates modern India and its global impact today, while embracing the country’s rich heritage in textile design and its weaving traditions,” noted Graham Head, Vice Chairman, ABC Carpet & Home. The special event also included a colour trends presentation by trend forecaster Li Edelkoort, who shared her “Indian Summer” 2019-2020 outlook.
