Welspun Group has a presence in home textiles, pipes, plates, coils, steel, infrastructure and energy. It is one of the largest home textile manufacturers in the world. The$2.3-bn group now plans to set-up three manufacturing facilities in Telangana with an investment of over Rs. 1,900 cr. Two of these would manufacture technical textiles, while the third would be for making line pipes. The three units are expected to generate direct and indirect employment for over 5,000.
The three projects will come up in Shabad Mandal in Ranga Reddy district and the Telangana government has approved a set of customised incentives for the Welspun companies, according to a report. The company is the latest to join the growing list of well-known names preferring Telangana, something both senior officials and Ministers attribute to the TS-iPASS policy, industry-friendly climate and a support eco-system in the State.
Welspun Flooring has proposed a Rs. 1,261- cr technical textile unit for manufacturing floor covering carpets and luxury vinyl tile (LVT). The other proposal pertaining to technical textile is by Welspun India Ltd with an investment of`409 cr.
