Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and global economic slowdown, textile and garment exports from China increased by 9.6 per cent year-on-year to $291.22 bn in 2020, data released by the Ministry of Industry and information technology showed.

Category-wise, textile exports jumped 29.2 per cent year-on-year to $153.84 bn during the year. On the other hand, garment exports declined by 6.4 per cent to $137.38 bn, according to the data.

In December 2020 alone, textile exports from China increased by 12.6 per cent year-on-year to $12.29 bn. Apparel exports too rose by 2.8 per cent during the month to $13.91 bn.
