The Ministry of Textiles has been working relentlessly to ensure a conducive policy environment, facilitating enabling editions for the industry and private entrepreneurs to set-up units through its various policy initiatives and schemes, Union Textiles Minister Smriti Zubin Irani has said giving an account of her Ministry’s work in the recent period. The Ministry has highlighted that it is striving to promote production, employment and exports, and is also working on promotion of technical textiles. Moreover, it has said that ‘zero defect, zero effect’ is its mantra.
“Today’s competitive world demands quick-time response in shaping initiatives to address the challenges of growth and converting them into opportunities. To this end, the Ministry of textiles has been working relentlessly to ensure a conducive policy environment,” Irani said.
“The Ministry has formulated various measures to enhance the quality of Indian textiles to international standards and to upgrade the skill of the workers,” added Union Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta.
The progress report of the Ministry details various initiatives by the Ministry for boosting performance of various sectors, including silk, powerloom, handloom, handicraft, cotton, jute and technical textiles, and also the North-East region. It also lists the various steps taken for export promotion and also mentions the strategy to boost exports.
